MEASUREMENT service for Japan's Infrastructures

ABOUT US

About Us

The deterioration of Japan's infrastructure is an urgent social issue. Bridge deflection is one of the most direct indicators of bridge degradation. Conventional measurement methods were not only expensive but required considerable time, effort, and cost for setup and traffic control. Using the sampling Moiré technique developed at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), we provide measurement and analysis services that can quickly, affordably, and accurately measure bridge deflection.

Since 2020, we have also launched an AI acoustic analysis service to detect rainwater infiltration into sewage pipes. Infiltration caused by cracks and misconnections in aging sewage pipes is difficult to locate. The cost of processing this untreated rainwater falls on local governments, amounting to approximately ¥360 billion annually. Our detection technology—developed by AIST and CTI Engineering Ltd.—reduces investigation costs and time by over 50% on average compared to conventional methods, and was established as a national guideline by NILIM (Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism) in April 2021.

SERVICE

Service
  • Deflection & Vibration Measurement of Infrastructure Using Moire Technique

By simply attaching markers to a bridge, you can accurately measure bridge deflection quickly and at low cost using a digital camera. This is especially effective when conventional measurement is difficult—for example, when the area beneath the bridge is a river, railway, or road. The key advantage of AIST's Moiré technique is that photography from the bridge axis direction is all that is required.
